Virologist's latest EP contains two new songs that further explore the style of classic brutal death metal while bringing many fresh elements with the addition of the new band members. Mixed and mastered by Josh Welshman of Defeated Sanity, "Ameliorating Vicissitudes" showcases the punishing sound of the new generation of brutal death metal along with other young bands Regurgitated Entrails, Nuclear Remains, Submerged, and Necrotic Infibulation, all signed to New Standard Elite.

5.18.24 VIROLOGIST RELEASES SECOND EP
Southern California brutal death metal band Virologist releases their second EP, titled “Ameliorating Vicissitudes,” on May 18 through the New Standard Elite (NSE) label. This release is the first to feature the full lineup with Emrys Mellinger and Zach Klain on guitars, Ethan Shadman on drums, Sam Little on bass, and Daniel Esquivel on vocals.

Mixed and mastered by Josh Welshman of Defeated Sanity, the new Virologist release showcases the punishing sound of the new generation of brutal death metal along with other young bands Regurgitated Entrails, Nuclear Remains, Submerged, and Necrotic Infibulation, all signed to NSE.
Virologist’s first EP, “Promo 2023,” was a solo effort by Mellinger. The contributions of the new lineup have filled out Virologist’s sound and greatly expanded on the foundation of the previous release. The guitars, bass, and vocals on the new EP were recorded by Mellinger at his home studio, while the drums were recorded at Captain’s Quarters studio in Ventura, California, by Armand John Anthony of Night Demon and Cirith Ungol.
Ranging in age from 17 to 19, the Virologist lineup will return to the studio as soon as possible to record a full-length album, also to be released through New Standard Elite.
Virologist will be performing along with several other NSE bands at Slam Diego Deathfest in La Jolla, California, on May 18th to celebrate the new release. They’ll also be crushing the stage at Texas Domination Fest this September. “Ameliorating Vicissitudes” is available on CD and via all streaming services, including YouTube.
